X-34 LANDSPEEDER

CLASS:

SoroSuub X-34 Landspeeder

SIZE:

7.4 meters long

SPEED:

250 kilometers per hour

CAPACITY:

1 pilot, 1 passenger, 2 droids, and less than 5 kilograms of cargo

WEAPONS:

None

DEFENSES:

Light armor plating

DESCRIPTION:

The X-34 was an open-air/sealed cockpit civilian landspeeder, one of which was owned by Luke Skywalker during his youth. The landspeeder was durable, but not exactly stylish as with other models. It featured holographic displays, computer for ground navigation, and a number of repulsor counter balances for smooth and steady travel. It was light, unarmored, and featured no weapon emplacements, which made it unsuitable for military use. Luke was forced to sell his landspeeder upon leaving with Ben Kenobi for Alderaan, although he received way less than he thought he would because of the introduction of the newer, sleeker XP-38 landspeeder.

SANDCRAWLER

CLASS:

Modified Corellian Mining Digger Crawler

SIZE:

20 meters tall and 36.8 meters long

SPEED:

30 kilometers per hour over even terrain

CAPACITY:

50 Jawa crew, over 300 Jawa passengers, 1,500 droids, and 40 metric tons of miscellaneous cargo

WEAPONS:

None

DEFENSES:

Thick steel hull

DESCRIPTION:

Sandcrawlers were large, slow, treaded vehicle used by Jawas, who used them as mobile headquarters, shops, and homes. They were produced by ancient steam-powered nuclear fusion engines. They were extremely stable to prevent the vehicle from tipping over during a sandstorm. This also safequarded the Jawas from Tusken Raider attacks. About half of a sandcrawler's capacity was converted to storage areas to hold Jawa salvage and the rest of the space features workshops for tinkering with and repairing technology. Once droids and equipment were capured, they were pulled into the storage areas by a magnetic suction tube. The clan's chief was usually in the bridge, which was located on top of the sandcrawler. Scouts were also located in the bridge, who kept an eye out for any visible treasure located in the desert. Scanners and metal detectors were also used to aid the scouts in locating these items. Very little space in the sandcrawler was used for the crew, as Jawas often slept six in a cabin equal to the size of an average human's closet. The thick armor of the sandcrawler provided significant protection, but a few well-placed blaster shots could disable it. After landing on Tatooine in an escape pod, R2-D2 and C-3PO got seperated and eventually were both captured by Jawas. They were brought to their sandcrawler and the Jawas eventually sold the two droids to the Lars family.

T16 SKYHOPPER

CLASS:

Incom Corporation T-16 Skyhopper

SIZE:

12 meters tall

SPEED:

1,200 kilometers per hour in atmosphere, with a maximum altitude of 300 kilometers

CAPACITY:

1 pilot, 1 passenger, and 10 kilograms of cargo

WEAPONS:

1 heavy laser cannon, and 4 additional cannon modules that can be equipped with either stun cannons, pneumatic cannons, laser cannons, or targeting lasers

DEFENSES:

Thick hull plating

DESCRIPTION:

The T-16 Skyhopper was a high-performance airspeeder equipped with an ion engine and a fully pressurized cockpit. This allowed it to operate at trans-orbital altitudes. Civilian versions were armed with pneumatic cannons, but skyhoppers were often modified by law enforcement agencies and planetary militaries. Since the controls of the skyhopper were identical to that of the X-Wing, it was often used as a training vehicle by the Rebel Alliance. The T-16 featured a tri-wing design and triangular cockpit, which provided excellent stability. The center airfoil segmented the canopy and blocked much of the pilot's view. However, computer displays and a holographic mapping system made up for this shortcoming. Young pilots preferred the skyhopper over landspeeders because of the increased maneuverability. Luke Skywalker owned of these on Tatooine, which he used to shoot womp rats and race his friend, Biggs Darklighter, through Beggar's Canyon.

OUTRIDER

CLASS:

Modified Corellian Engineering Corporation YT-2400 Freighter

SIZE:

22 meters long

SPEED:

2860G and Class .75 hyperdrive, or 1,000 kilometers per hour in atmosphere

CAPACITY:

2 crew, 2 navigators, 2 gunners, 4 passengers, and 70 metric tons of cargo

WEAPONS:

2 Dymek double laser cannons and 2 concussion missile launchers(racks of 3)

DEFENSES:

Several deflector shields of unknown make, titanium reinforced hull, and standard countermeasure package

DESCRIPTION:

The Outrider was originally a stock YT-2400 freighter, but Dash Rendar modified the ship with new engines, a primary Class 0.75 hyperdrive and backup Class 1.0 hyperdrive, reinforced armor, improved sensors, and a countermeasure/stealth package. Most of these modifications were highly illegal, but they helped Dash to avoid unnecessary engagements. The heavy laser cannons mounted on each turret were also hand-modified by Rendar to improve both their firwpower and range. These turrets could be operated from either the cockpit or the turrets. When the ship was fully stocked, it could go for two months straight without having to resupply. The ship was gift to Rendar by a Twi'lek crime boss named "Uncle" Vanya, who he worked early in his career. Once he recieved the ship, he immediately made the above modifications to it to suit his smuggling career. He eventually was hired by the Rebel Alliance to smuggle weapons and supplies to Echo Base on Hoth. Like Han Solo and the Millenium Falcon, Dash was barely able to escape Hoth and had to fly through the asteroid field in order to avoid pursuit from the Imperials. He piloted his freighter during the final battle with Black Sun leader Prince Xizor over Coruscant. During that battle, it appeared that the Outrider was destroyed, but he escaped and the fate of the ship and its captain has been unknown.

SLAVE I

CLASS:

Modified Kuat Systems Engineering Firespray-Class Patrol and Attack Ship

SIZE:

21.5 meters long

SPEED:

2500G and Class 1 hyperdrive, or 1,000 kilometers per hour in atmosphere

CAPACITY:

1 crew, 1 copilot, 6 prisoners, and up to 40 metric tons of cargo

WEAPONS:

2 twin-mounted rotating blaster cannons, 1 concussion missile tube launcher(concealed), 1 ion cannon(concealed), 1 tractor beam projector(concealed), 2 proton torpedo launchers(concealed)

DEFENSES:

Titanium reinforced alloy hull, contact ray shielding, and limited deflector shield generator of unknown make

DESCRIPTION:

Slave I was a modified Firespray-class patrol and attack craft heavily modified by both Jango and Boba Fett. It originally was a prototype police craft kept at the asteroid prison on Oovo IV, but was stolen by Jango and was used to escape the prison with Zam Wesell. When idle, the ship lay on its bottom surface, but the ship rotated 90 degrees to maneuver vertically during flight. The standard blaster cannons received an enhanced targeting computer and a variable power regulator. He also added concealed laser cannons which were less accurate than the blaster cannons, but had a rapid recharge rate. The ship also possessed special dummy proton torpedoes mounted with homing beacons. This allowed Fett to track his targets through hyperspace using a contraband HoloNet transceiver. Jango also remodeled the interior of the ship by adding small crew quarters and replacing the standard prisoner cages with narrow wall cabinets for holding six prisoners. Jango used the Slave I during his hunt for deranged Jedi Komari Vosa, his escape from Obi-Wan Kenobi on Kamino, and his pursuit of Kenobi near Geonosis. After Jango was killed, Boba took the ship and made his own modifications. He replaced the concealed laser cannons with ion cannons for disabling starships and proton torpedoes or tracking devices replaced the guided missiles used by Jango. Fett also added a turret-mounted tractor beam projector and a sensor-jamming system. During Boba's ownership of the ship, he was constantly pursuing Han Solo and eventually did capture him. When Boba fell into the Sarlacc on Tatooine, Slave I was captured by Alliance forces and impounded.

TWIN-POD CLOUD CAR

CLASS:

Bespin Motors Storm IV Twin-Pod Cloud Car

SIZE:

7 meters long

SPEED:

1,500 kilometers per hour, and a maximum altitude of 100 kilometers or near orbital height

CAPACITY:

1 pilot, 1 gunner, and 10 kilograms of cargo

WEAPONS:

1 fire-linked double blaster cannnon

DEFENSES:

Heavy armor plating

DESCRIPTION:

The cloud car was designed by Bespin Motors as a patrol vehicle for the floating mining colony. The first cloud cars consisted of two armored cockpits connected by a sturdy engine block. Bespin's Wing Guard used these cloud cars to greet incoming vessels, investigate disturbances, inspect outlying mining facilities, and defend Cloud City. Civilians also used cloud cars for sight-seeing and travel around Bespin. Cloud cars feature a pair of twin blaster cannons, which can be controlled by a gunner in the starboard pod. The small power generator prevents the vehicle from supporting anything more powerful than blaster cannons. It was designed primarily for atmospheric flight, so cloud cars usually do not have life support systems onboard. The cockpits are pressurized for high-altitude flight, so most can reach low orbit. The cloud car's primary propulsion system is a small, but powerful ion engine that allows it to reach speeds above 1,500 km/h. A secondary repulsorlift drive aids in complex maneuvers and increases the vehicle's speed. Both of these systems are open to the air to help with cooling. Small maneuvering flaps, mechanized flaps, control vanes, and rudders also help speed and control performance. After the Imperials took control of Cloud City, Bespin Motors sold the design to other markets. As a result, cloud cars have become widespread throughout the galaxy. Other variants have been produced, including the "combat cloud car", which featured upgraded armor and high-powered laser cannons.

SAIL BARGE

CLASS:

Ubrikkian Luxury Sail Barge

SIZE:

30 meters long

SPEED:

100 kilometers per hour, or 30 kilometers per hour with sails engaged with a maximum altitude of 10 meters

CAPACITY:

26 crew, 300 passengers, 1 obese Hutt, and 250 metric tons of cargo

WEAPONS:

1 heavy blaster and approximately 10 antipersonnel deck-mounted blasters

DEFENSES:

Light armor plating

DESCRIPTION:

The wealthy Hutts favored large repulsorlift vehicles known as sail barges for their long pleasure cruises. Most sail barges utilized three-chambered repulsorlift engines in order to cruise over a planet's surface at about 100 kilometers per hour. The term "sail barge" comes from the huge, retractable sails used for catching the wind on the more leisurely trips. These sail barges usually lack armor and weapons. Jabba's sail barge, the Khetanna, was used for extravagant parties and tours of the Tatooine desert. These cruises often finished with the execution of Jabba's enemies. The Khetanna was divided into three decks. The top and main deck was reserved for Jabba's crew and contained all of the control systems for the sail barge. An advanced sensor suite allowed Jabba and his crew to avoid Imperial entanglements. The passenger deck held a huge banquet room, fully stocked kitchen, and Jabba's private quarters. Jabba decorated this deck with expensive tapestries, sculptures, and other items of wealth. Retractable viewports provided a great view of the desert. The third and lower deck consisted of engines, redundant steering systems, and holding cells for prisoners. A droid storage closet, small machine shop, and holding tanks for Jabba's live food also filled the lower deck. Jabba planned his greatest party for the executions of Han Solo and his allies. However, Luke Skywalker turned the tables on Jabba. The young Jedi eliminated most of Jabba's cronies, while Princess Leia rigged the heavy laser cannon to fire directly into the main deck, starting a chain reaction that destroyed the Khetanna.

DESERT SKIFF

CLASS:

Ubrikkian Bantha II Cargo Skiff

SIZE:

9.5 meters long

SPEED:

Between 200 and 250 kilometers per hour, with a maximum altitude of 50 meters

CAPACITY:

1 pilot and up to 16 passengers, or 125 metric tons of cargo

WEAPONS:

None

DEFENSES:

Weak armor plating

DESCRIPTION:

The desert skiff was a repulsorlift utility vehicle that featured an open deck with a simple control station located at the rear of the vehicle. It was controlled by a control pedestal, meaning that it could be piloted by almost anyone. Two steering vanes provided very limited maneuverability, which made it very dangerous for both crew and vehicle if traveling at high speed. They were also poorly equipped for combat and a standard blaster could disable its steering vanes or repulsorloft engine. Skiffs could easily be modified to adjust to planetary conditions such as rain, heat, or cold. Military versions featured reinforced hulls and laser cannons bolted to the railings. These vehicles were very cheap, so almost anyone could own one. Gangster Jabba the Hutt owned a fleet of these skiffs and used them to escort Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca to the Pit of Carkoon. However, the heroes fought back and managed to destroy one of Jabba's skiffs along with his sail barge. The other skiff was used by Luke and company to quickly escape Tatooine.

Exotic metal alloys and condensed-matter composite, made up the main body of the craft and also allowed it to move quickly and maintain momentum created by the massive engines. The airspeeder featured a powerful sound system and communications gear that allowed Greyshade to communicate with fellow Senators. It feature dual low-beam lights , and a combination longer-range widebeam light and collision scanner kept the pilot aware of oncoming objects. Tractor units and inertia compensators in the seats helped keep the driver and passenger seated through the most reckless maneuvers. This speeder became famous when Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker and his master, Obi-Wan Kenobi commandeered the vehicle to pursue Zam Wesell through Coruscant. The vehicle was eventually returned to its original spot.

ZAM'S AIRSPEEDER

CLASS:

Koro-2 Exodrive airspeeder

SIZE:

6.61 meters long

SPEED:

800 kilometers per hour

CAPACITY:

1 pilot

WEAPONS:

None

DEFENSES:

Light armor plating

DESCRIPTION:

The Koro-2 Exodrive airspeeder was a dragster-style airspeeder used by Zam Wesell during the chase through Coruscant. It was all-environment airspeeder with a twin-forked nose and a sleek, green-colored body. It was powered by an electromagnetic field, arround its frontal mandibles. They drew in surrounding air and irradiated it, producing ionization which was pushed to the rear of the craft and thus creating thrust. However, this system caused radiation spill and noxious waste, which was not healthy in urban areas. It was designed to survive in hostile environments, the pressurized cockpit had a two-week air supply. It featured no offensive weapons and instead, relied on speed and agility. After her second failed assassination attempt on Senator Amidala, Zam Wesell fled in her Koro-2 and led Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi on a wild chase through Galactic City. Anakin eventually jumped onto her airspeeder and struggled with Zam, who accidentally damaged the controls. The speeder flew out of control and crashed onto the streets of Coruscant. Zam ran into Outlander Club to hide. By the time Republic authorities arrived to inspect the airspeeder, theives had already stripped the vehicle of parts.

BONGO

CLASS:

Tribubble Bongo Sub

SIZE:

15 meters long

SPEED:

85 kilometers per hour

CAPACITY:

1 pilot and 2 passengers

WEAPONS:

None

DEFENSES:

Organic coral-like hull

DESCRIPTION:

Tribubble bongos were unusual, bioengineered submersibles used by the Gungans of Naboo. The hull was equipped with an electrical power plant, a guidance system, and passenger seating. Most bongos were designed around creatures of the sea so many resembled squids, devil rays, etc. The most commonly used propulsion system was a series of long, aft-mounted tentacles that rotated which thrusted the vehicle through the water. The most complex feature of the bongo was the buoyancy system, which consisted of sponge-like hydrostatic chambers located around the perimeter of the sub. In order to dive, heavy oil was released into these chambers, which changed the density of the vehicle. When the sub had to surface, oil was released from the chambers. One of these bongo subs was used by Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Jar Jar Binks to travel through the planet core and reach Theed Palace.

DESCRIPTION:

The Scitimar was a prototype stealth-ship used by Sith apprentice Darth Maul as his personal starship. It had a pair of folding wings around a round cockpit. This design was used in vessels used by Sith Lords about a millenium earlier and it would also resurface in the TIE design during the rise of the Empire. Behind the cockpit, a stygium crystal-powered cloaking device, which allowed Maul to evade pursuit and sneak through even the most advanced sensor technologies. Inside the Scitimar, a series of compartments contained three DRK-1 Dark Eye probe droids, Maul's speeder bike Bloodfin, several interrogation and security droids, spying equipment, torture devices, bombs, and mines. Darth Maul used this ship to track down the missing Queen Amidala and eventually found her on Tatooine. After dueling Qui-Gon Jinn, they barely escaped and Maul tracked them back to Naboo. After killing Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi avenged his master and slew the Sith Lord. After his death, the Scitimar was captured by Republic authorities. The first technicians to enter the ship were gunned down by automated defenses, so the Republic called in Jedi Master Saesee Tiin to help secure the ship. He found dozens of pieces of sinister equipment and also found that the onboard computer had been erased. The ship was sent to the Kuat Drive Yards for study, but the ship disappeared enroute.

SITH SPEEDER

CLASS:

Custom Razalon FC-20 Speeder Bike

SIZE:

7.64 meters long

SPEED:

650 kilometers per hour

CAPACITY:

1 pilot

WEAPONS:

None

DEFENSES:

Light armor plating

DESCRIPTION:

The Bloodfin was the personal Sith speeder of Darth Maul. It was named after aquatic hunter Maul had encountered and fought in the Outer Rim Territories. It was a small repulsorlift vehicle with a powerful rear thrust engine. Its engine system was designed to provide the rider with fast acceleration, which allowed it to reach open- ground speeds within seconds. It had an extremely low center of gravity, which improved its cornering ability and made it a very small target. The vehicle's curved seat allowed Darth Maul leap directly from the speeder and attack his prey. It possessed no shields or sensors, these features were viewed as weaknesses by the Dark Lord. It was also equipped with an autopilot system that allowed Maul to remotely pilot the vehicle with his Force powers. He could also control the vehicle from a wrist-mounted comlink from up to eight kilometers away. Darth Maul used the Bloodfin to attack Qui-Gon Jinn on Tatooine. The speeder was captured along with Maul's starship, Scitimar, by Republic authorities, but later disappeared forever.
